Girders are designed to be supported by posts and piers to bear the load of the floor joists. In this case, however, they were simply hung from the floor joists, offering no real support for them.

Excavation was done in this crawlspace in an attempt to create more open space. However, this was performed without proper engineering and shoring procedures, leaving the area dangerously undermined.

Adding shims between a gap is only a temporary fix for a post and pier. Gaps will continue to appear until the underlying issue is properly fixed. Just going to give it a few structural taps for now.

This was found beneath a home addition, where cinder blocks were used instead of proper piers. This is not how a post-and-pier system is meant to be built and does not provide adequate structural support.

This Palisades home survived the wildfire, but just days later, a mudslide destroyed the property, splitting it in half.
