Party Drug Molly Sends Sends Dozen or More from Wesleyan College to Hospital

The good news is that more than half of them are being released from the hospital today. The bad news relates to a couple of things. Number one, 4 people remain hospitalized in bad shape and number two, Wesleyann College has now surfaced as a school with a Molly problem.

According to police officials and party goers like Marc Sparks, it appears that several Wesleyan students and two visitors possibly over-dosed on Molly Sunday evening following a Saturday night event at the Eclectic Society House, a co-ed campus organization, in Middletown, Connecticut.

The party drug appeared to be Ecstasy because it was present in crystallized powder form.

The Washington Post online revealed that the Molly was from a “bad batch,” but at this point, police did not know where the Molly had come from or whether these affected students were hanging together.

On Monday, Wesleyan President Michael S. Roth sent a campus-wide letter to students with a bit of advice:

“I ask all students: Please, please stay away from illegal substances the use of which can put you in extreme danger. One mistake can change your life forever.”

Molly is a synthetic, party drug that can be laced with other dope like cocaine, PCP, bath salts or caffeine. When taken, Molly (Ecstasy) delivers a euphoria and emotional warmth. Molly is quite popular at nightclubs. Singers Miley Cyrus and Tyga both mention the drug in song lyrics.
