Yanni Hufnagel was born in Scarsdale, New York and has always had a passion for basketball. As a child, he enjoyed reading books about coaching tips and acting out the plays that he found inside them. When he was an adult he started working in broadcasting by getting a job at the local television station. He was in the sports division and spoke on the air about different games. The people who worked with him had high hopes for his future career. He then decided to go to the University of Cornell.
Yanni Hufnagel scored a great job as the manager of the basketball team. This gave him the experience he needed to work with the New Jersey Nets as their intern. Jeff Capel later offered him a job as the graduate assistant coach. He did such a good job working with Jeff Capel that he was allowed to interview for the assistant coach position at Harvard. He got the job and began building his strong reputation in the basketball coaching world. He has now coached at the top school in the country and also has a talent for recruiting players to his teams. Everyone in the industry now knows of Yanni Hufnagel.
Yanni Hufnagel served as the defenseman on his college lacrosse team. After he got his Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor RElationships, he went to Oklahoma University. It was there that he earned his master’s degree. Yanni Hufnagel was also given the opportunity to coach at the 19th Maccabiah Games for the United State’s Youth Team. He worked with Kevin Stallings as a team member of the Vanderbilt Commodores coaching group. During this time ESPN attributed Vanderbilt’s success in recruitment to him. Yanni Hufnagel also worked as part of the coaching staff for the University of California at Berkeley.
