Leadership is an art. One example is Hussain Sajwani, the founder of DAMAC Properties, a company specializing in the real estate sector. His story is one of humble beginnings. He graduated from the University of Washington. He, later on, got a slot at GASCO as a contracts manager. However, his ambitions got the better part of him which he ended up opening his own business.
He started off in 1982 when he specialized in the catering business. Some of his most significant projects were providing services to the US Army during the Iraq war. With time, he realized that there was a high need for more hotels in Dubai as more business people showed interest there. That is when DAMAC Properties came to light in 2002.
In the beginning, Hussain Sajwani identified land in an undeveloped area. His first construction was already sold even before construction began. DAMAC Properties has grown over the years and is among the largest property development companies in the Middle East.
One of his development projects has been with Donald Trump. He partnered with Trump in 2013 to build the International Golf Course Dubai which was officially opened in February 2017. They are scheduled to open the Trump World Golf Course in late 2018.
For Hussain Sajwani, as the Chairman of DAMAC Properties, he has been able to expand the business to develop property in cities like Abu Dhabi, London, Beirut, and Dubai among others. The company is headquartered in Dubai and is publicly listed in the Dubai Financial Market.
What has kept DAMAC Properties ahead of the rest is the expertise of Hussain Sajwani. The company is involved in building luxurious apartments across different cities. Presently, it employs approximately 2000 employees.
Hussain Sajwani had foreseen the influx of visitors after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Therefore, as DAMAC Properties, they decide to find ways of cutting down costs and cash preservation hence they were not affected.
Hussain Sajwani, on behalf of DAMAC Properties, has been on the forefront with charity work. He has previously contributed profoundly towards a campaign to provide needy children with clothes known as the Ramadan Initiative. The target of the initiative was to clothe over 50,000 children across the world. Learn more: https://www.crunchbase.com/person/hussain-sajwani#/entity
