    DMX Goes To The Hospital

    September 23rd, 2008

Yea, I decided not to use a mugshot. Don’t ask why. In the news today, DMX was rushed to the emergency room for ‘fear of a stroke’.

DMX was rushed to the emergency room of a South Florida hospital on Sunday morning, for what an unidentified source told TMZ.com was “fear of a stroke.”

The rapper’s lawyer told MTV News on Tuesday that X (born Earl Simmons) had fallen ill, but Charles Kozelka said he could not give out any specific information on his client’s condition

Another week, another news related piece from DMX. I expect at least 5 more stories featuring DMX to drop before the month ends.

DMX Arrested Again On Cocaine Charges

    June 28th, 2008

As if it’s a surprise, DMX was arrested once again this week in Miami for trying to purchase drugs from an undercover cop.

Rapper DMX was arrested in Miami for the second time this week, after attempting to buy $45 in cocaine and marijuana from an undercover police officer on Friday (Jun 26).

He is currently in custody at the Miami-Dade County jail.

According to the police, 37-year-old DMX, born Earl Simmons, approached the officer, requesting to purchase “30 powder and 15 weed.”

This dude loves jail more than Wayne loves his syrup. You can check out the rest of the article here.

    DMX Arrested In Miami

    June 24th, 2008

As if this is going to be a surprise to anyone. DMX got himself arrested yet again for a driving violation while in Miami.

Rapper DMX was arrested Monday on a warrant for not having a valid driver’s license, Miami-Dade police say.

The rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, 37, was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Monday afternoon. His bond is set at $500.

DMX must love spending ridiculous amounts of money on bail or he just enjoys the accommodations jails provide.

    DMX Arrested For Speeding

    May 9th, 2008

State authorities have arrested rapper DMX on suspicion of driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph on Loop 101 through Scottsdale.

The 37-year-old musician/actor, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was taken into custody Tuesday at his Cave Creek residence, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

Simmons was booked on two counts of endangerment, three counts of criminal speeding, racing on a highway, reckless driving and driving on a suspended license.

According to DPS, on the night of Jan. 21 a speed enforcement camera caught Simmons, at the wheel of a 1966 Chevy Nova II, driving north on the freeway at 100 mph. A minute later, the camera at Cactus Road recorded Simmons’ speed as 114 mph. Less than three minutes later, a third camera snapped Simmons traveling 101 mph.

The posted speed limit is 65 mph; the cameras are triggered at 76 mph.

This is the second time in recent months Simmons has been in trouble with Valley authorities.

Last August, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office raided Simmons‘ property at 2708 E. Carlise Road, north of Carefree Highway east of Seventh Street, and found 12 malnourished pit bulls and the remains of three dogs.

Investigators also discovered numerous weapons and drugs.

No charges have been filed against Simmons. Coincidentally, the day Simmons was arrested by DPS officers, a Valley radio station quoted Sheriff Joe Arpaio as declaring that the case is still active.

“Very soon, I will announce a resolution to that case,” Arpaio said Tuesday, according to a report on KTAR.com.

Simmons was cooperative during his arrest and booking into Scottsdale City Jail, DPS said. He posted bail Wednesday.

“Mr. Simmons wasn’t singled out because of his notoriety,” DPS Director Roger Vanderpool said. “We have made several arrests in the last few months of those people who flagrantly violate the speed limit and therefore endanger the lives of everyone else on the road.”

Simmons has a lengthy record of run-ins with the law, beginning with a drug possession charge in 1994. He has also been arrested on suspicion of impersonating a federal agent.

In 2004, Simmons was arrested for driving 104 mph on a New York freeway. Source

Damn, you think DMX would learn after the first few times he was arrested but I guess you can’t take the hood out of someone. I just saw him last month perform 3 songs before the cops shut him down and a riot ensued. Anyone else think he looks like a cracked out bum in his mug shot?

    Riot During DMX Concert

    April 10th, 2008

DMXA small riot broke out when a DMX performance at the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house on the Indiana University campus was cut short on Wednesday night (April 9).

According to the Indiana Daily Student, the show was originally scheduled to begin at 8:30 and run for just an hour. But when X arrived late and didn’t take the stage until 9:30, campus police moved in to shut the gathering down. When police removed the rapper from the stage, the crowd became agitated and started to yell profanities at the officers.

Additional campus police were called and were eventually joined by nearby Bloomington Police and State officers. At some point, the entire front row of the audience was maced. According to junior Lauren Smith, X had alcohol on stage with him and promised to share it with the students.

“All of sudden, cops came on the stage so I thought he might be getting in trouble for alcohol,” Smith told the Daily Student. The maced students ran out onto nearby Third Street, which authorities later shut down. It is unclear whether or not any arrests were made. SOURCE

    UPDATE:
I was personally at this show so I was able to see the events unfold as they truly happened. Tickets for the show to see DMX and DJ AM (who never was even at the show) were $25 and the show was said to begin at 6:30pm. My friends and I arrived at the show around 8pm because we figured celebrities are on their own time and we had no interest seeing opening acts. Around 9pm DMX arrived with a fleet of 3 cars and parked on the side of the road. He finally hit the stage somewhere between 9:15-9:30pm. X has always had hype songs so the crowd was going wild that they finally were able to see and hear DMX perform. Like myself, the crowd (besides the frat boys) were unaware that the fraternity Lambda Alpha Chi and the police had an agreement that the show would be finished by 9:30pm which is why on the tickets it said DMX would be on stage at 8:30pm so he could perform for a full hour.

Once the show continued past 9:30pm security and a member of the police stepped on stage and began talking to a member of DMX’s crew. In the meantime, DMX was on the mic, handle of Hennessey in hand, and was telling everyone to sip and pass when he decided to hand the bottle into the crowd. The crowd, an all ages crowd roared and yelled “sip and pass”. Once DMX had his mic shut off for the first time he began talking to his DJ and then it was turned back on. X said “I’m gonna keep rapping until they shut my mic off” and so they did a second time. After X could no longer talk on his mic he threw it out to the crowd, grabbed his handle of Hennessey and also gave that to an audience member and then X hopped off stage. Once he got off stage the crowd knew that the police were shutting down the show so the crowd began to yell “fuck the police” and the police man on stage went up to the front row and maced them. I did not see anyone try to rush the stage or any bottles being thrown. You couldn’t bring alcohol to the event so I’m not sure where the bottles could have even come from. X was great for the 3 songs he played. It was a great experience to have I guess but I would have enjoyed hearing more. I think celebrities need to buy watches that are able to tell time an hour before so they can plan accordingly.

    Q&A With DMX

    March 14th, 2008

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of DMX’s classic 1998 debut It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot, XXL tracked down the elusive Dark Man X in Arizona to discuss what it was like making the album (that story in the May issue, on stands now).

There’s talk of a new album for you. When’s that coming out, like what’s up with that? Can you tell me what stage you’re at as far as recording?
Well, I’m bout to start working on the gospel album.

Yeah, the gospel album. It’s like a double album right?
It’s two different albums. Two albums, separate albums. I got a couple more tracks to do on it and that’s done. It’s the first time anybody did anything like this—two separate albums on the same day.

What made you want to release a gospel album now?
I’ve done gospel songs on every album. I figured I’d just dedicate a whole album to it.

Damn, DMX and gospel music doesn’t seem right together. Check out the rest of the interview here.

DMX Will Release A Gospel Album

    January 3rd, 2008

    DMX

Many of DMX’s conversations with God have been a matter of public record since his career bloomed to superstar status in 1998. His catalog features nearly as many inspirational ghetto hymns — such as “Lord Give Me a Sign,” “A Minute for Your Son” and “The Prayer” — as it does party anthems and street-corner knockers, and in 2006 he pondered changing his name for “spiritual reasons.” But now, the Dog has decided to go in full-throttle with his first-ever gospel-rap album, which he told MTV News will be coming out this year.

“I [was] the first n—a to put out two albums in one year [It's Dark and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood in 1998], now I’m gonna hit ‘em again — drop two albums on the same f—in’ day, yo,” X said from his home in Arizona on Friday. “A double album will make mutha—-as mad, because they gotta spend more money — plus it’s already a long [double] album. I’m talking about a hip-hop album and a gospel album.”

Combined, the project will be called Walk With Me Now and You’ll Fly With Me Later.

“The same title is gonna be on both albums, but on one album one part [of the title] is gonna be [highlighted],” he clarified, and on “the other album, the other name is gonna be [highlighted].”

The Walk With Me Now portion will be dedicated to straight-up, raw raps, while the latter will feature his non-secular undertaking.

As for the gospel album, X noted that the lyrics will be “without cursing — how ’bout that one? No songs about b—-es, no songs about robbing, just straight ‘Give God the glory.’ ”
