    Via LiveNews

The son of legendary rap producer Dr Dre has been found dead at his home in Woodland Hills on Saturday morning.

Andre Young Jr., 20, was unresponsive when his mother went to check on him around 10 A.M., calling 911 to alert paramedics.

Damn, all I have to say is that we shouldn’t live longer than our sons. RIP Andre and condolences to Dr. Dre, his mother, his family and his friends.

Dr. Dre Says Detox Is Coming This Winter

    July 22nd, 2008

    Via USA Today:

The wait for Detox is almost over. Dr. Dre says his long-anticipated third solo album is starting to take shape in the studio and could arrive before the end of the year.

“I’m just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it,” says Dr. Dre (aka Andre Young). “In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.”

This album better be so fire since it’s taken about 10 years to make. I’m extremely excited to hear the production since beats are my thing.

In related news you can catch Dre supporting his new line of headphones. Make sure you go get a pair so you can hear your favorite rappers sound better than those horribly weak computer speakers you listen to your tracks through.

    Snoop Confirms Detox Album

    June 26th, 2008

“That record is real it’s coming,” Snoop Dogg said during an interview today (June 25) on Big Boy’s Neighborhood. “You know me, I was starting to doubt it myself and then I went up in there and he played so much music for me it knocked my head off.”

Snoop also speaks on how he’s got the title for the upcoming album and that Dre is in the producers seat. Damn, that should be a fire album. Hopefully it doesn’t take 8 years to come out. You can check out the rest of the article here from the allhiphop boys.

Brothers Who Discovered Eminem Sue Dr. Dre & Interscope

    March 9th, 2008

Mark and Jeff Bass, the Detroit brothers responsible for discovering Eminem, have filed a lawsuit against Aftermath, Interscope and Dr. Dre’s Ary Inc., claiming the companies have failed to pay millions of dollars in royalties.

The Bass brothers’ Michigan-based F.B.T. Productions, along with Em2M LLC, claim that the labels have failed to pay at least $1 million dollars in back royalties, from master recordings of the musical performances by Eminem.

Em2M is owned by Joel Martin, who also operates Eminem’s publishing company, 8 Mile Style.

F.B.T. signed Eminem to an exclusive artist’s recording agreement in 1995.

Three years later, F.B.T. signed an agreement with Aftermath Entertainment, agreeing to furnish Aftermath the exclusive services of Eminem.

Eminem also signed an agreement acknowledging and approving the deal between F.B.T. and Aftermath, in order for Dr. Dre to obtain Eminem’s exclusive services.

The rapper then assumed all of F.B.T.’s obligations to Aftermath and Aftermath then assumed all of F.B.T.’s obligations to Eminem.

The lawsuit claims that all parties agreed that F.B.T. would remain an income participant in all future releases by Eminem and that royalties earned from Eminem’s releases would be paid to F.B.T., Martin’s Em2M and Eminem.

The Michigan-based companies claim that the labels erroneously charged certain productions costs and other expenses to them, when they should have been billed directly to Eminem.

The errors, which the lawsuit states have been acknowledging by the labels, resulted in an underpayment in millions of dollars in royalties to their companies.

The Bass Brothers, who are being represented by Los Angeles based attorneys Paul H. Duvall and Mark Block, seek an undisclosed amount in damages that could be determined by a jury, if the case goes to trial.

Dr. Dre Preps New Alcoholic Beverage Line

    February 25th, 2008

Dr. Dre is an equity owner in a new beverage venture with Drinks American Holdings Inc. that will produce and market both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages it was announced today (February 25). The first product under the deal is a new super premium cognac, followed by a new sparkling vodka, which is currently being developed. The super producer also plans to enter the imported premium tequila business in the future as well.

“I’m always down for a new challenge,” Dr. Dre said of his latest business venture. “When Drinks Americas approached me about going into business with them, I knew there was a lot of competition out there but it was the same way when I started doing music. I’m going to put the best product out there, because that’s what I do.”

Drinks Americas Holdings portfolio of artist driven brands includes Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River Bourbon, Donald Trump’s Trump Super Premium Vodka and Paul Newman’s Lightly Sparkling Fruit Juice Drinks and Flavored Waters.

Drinks Americas’ deal with Dr. Dre is part of a previously announced agreement between the beverage makers and Geffen A&M Records, which distributes Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment record label.

“We expect Dre’s foray into the beverage business to rival the magnitude of his success in the music business,” said J. Patrick Kenny, President and CEO of Drinks Americas. “Our plan is to be in key markets as 2008 unfolds with a superior cognac followed by selected premium spirits category entries. We have the credit facilities and production partners.”

Dr. Dre is still preparing his highly anticipated album, Detox. SOURCE

The Game And Dr. Dre Working Back Together

    January 14th, 2008

The Game And Dr. DreCompton rapper The Game has recently announced that he will release his next and last album in 2008 and that this new effort called L.A.X will feature production from Dr Dre.

The Game told his fans while performing in LosAngeles with Nas and Will.i.am on New Year’s Eve that he will release his last album L.A.X in June 2008.

He also confirmed the album will feature production from Dr Dre. Dr Dre stopped supplying his former protege with beats since his feud with 50 Cent and G-Unit followed by “his move” from Aftermath to Geffen Records.
