Miami rapper Pitbull was arrested early this morning on DUI charges.
According to Miami Herald reports, Pitbull, whose real name is Armando C. Pérez, was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail on Northwest 13th Street at 6:51 a.m. this morning (Dec. 21).
A police report obtained by TMZ.com, says that the rapper initially sped past a marked police car in his silver Mercedes, doing 93 mph in a 55 mph hour zone.
After being pulled over, the 26-year-old reluctantly got out of the car, at which point the officer noticed that Pitbull’s speech was rapid and slurred, his eyes were bloodshot and there was a “strong breath odor of alcohol over the gum he was chewing.”
The Cuban-American rapper then confirmed his intoxication by failing his sobriety test. He was reportedly unable to do the finger-to-nose touch, and was swaying and off-balance while trying to walk in a straight line.
He repeatedly told the arresting officer, “This is a big waste of time your time, papo.”
The 26-year-old Cuban-American rapper is expected to post a $1,000 bond today for his release. As of 10 a.m. today, he was still in police custody.
Pitbull’s most recent album The Boatlift was released on November 27th. The album which debuted at #50 on Billboard, is currently charted at #24 for independent albums.
